Let me first say that I am always a little bit skeptical about new things, especially when it comes to things as traditional as literacy itself, which has such a huge impact on society.
I have to say that if you give me a book I am like a cat in front of a fire. I read every chance I get and will read an entire book in one sitting and not think a thing it. That being said, I am sure that it is completely obvious that I am one of those few that love literacy just as it is.
From the beginning of time schoolwork has been characterized by books rather the study of books and the testing of what you can remember has been with paper tests.
Paper is like the tide, it will always be there, where as, computers on the other hand are as fickle as the wind computers are great when they are functioning but it is kind of disastrous when they have a glitch let me give you an example. At the beginning of this assignment Mr Huval asked us to turn in our assignments but some of us (myself included) couldn't complete our work because of computer related problems.
Now that I have expressed my opinion let's talk facts. In the article it clearly states that the more our generation reads only digital material, the more our schools reading and reading comprehension scores are declining or staying the same. They are in no way improving.
I am certainly not against change and so I believe that educators should conduct more tests to be sure whether such digital literacy is beneficial., For now based on the articles and tests done so far it is my opinion that digital literacy is completely unbeneficial.

How cell phones have impacted our lives.
I believe that cell phones have had both a negative and positive effect on society. Let's start with the positive first. Cells phones; once a thing of science fiction now a part of everyday reality. Cell phones are amazing they allow for the immediate access to help for those in trouble, they allow families to stay connected across long distances, while traveling ( just as the first cell phone ad ever made showed us), they also allow for us to track lost persons by tracking the receiver in the phone, so as you can see there is allot of very beneficial ways to use the cell phones.
Now, we must look at the bad. Cell phone are more often then not used for the singular purpose of texting rather then to communicate vocally. Talking used to be your identity it used to tell people who you where and the way in which you spoke said allot about what social class you belonged too.
I believe that with all of us now texting we are no longer being good communicators and are loosing our ability to communicate or speak publicly or privately. In the scheme of things texting is a relatively a new idea and we are seeing the adverse effects already.
The last cell phone ad that we looked at is in no way funny it is very truthful people are so busy texting that they forget to pay attention to the would around them it is quite sad but true and I hope that soon people will see the error of their ways and stop wasting their entire livies texting.
Words; our speech, the very thing that used to separate class from class and soul from soul is now being replaced by silent words on a blinking screen
